IMPACT: A VIRTUAL GATHERING IN SUPPORT OF DIVERSITY
Sunday, November 15, 4:30 p.m.
Please plan to join us for a very impactful virtual gathering as we renew our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. College of Arts and Architecture Dean Stephen Carpenter will welcome attendees and introduce our special guest, Penn State alumna Beverly McIver (MFA, ’92). McIver is widely acknowledged as a significant presence in contemporary American art, and her work can be found in numerous public and private collections. Critically acclaimed for her brilliant use of color and “the sheer vitality of her painting style”; McIver is committed to producing art that examines racial, gender, and social identity. Her talk will focus on recent work, notably her compelling self-portraits that invite us to ponder the power of art in the midst of a pandemic. Director Erin Coe will also share her goals around diversity and invite members and other friends to join us in making an impact as we look to the future. Look for an electronic invitation with Zoom details prior to the event. Sponsored by the Friends of the Palmer Museum of Art.
